Travelling back to Mumbai - AC Road

State highway # 11 Alapuzha - Changanasherry Road

We started our journey from my house in Anjilithanam in our car (Wagon R) and within half an hour (exactly 18 min (8.5 km) via Changanassery Kaviyoor Road) we reach Perunnai Changanasherry to continue our journey through the bypass road State highway # 11 Alapuzha - Changanasherry Road. AC Road is the first road which is passing though Kuttanad Paddy fields. The road passes through scenic paddy fields, coconut groves in Kuttanad and backwaters in Alappuzha.
This bypass road connects NH47 to MC Road through  Alappuzha - Nedumudi - Ramankary - and Changanassery.

The A-C canal, which runs along the length of the road is meant to empty the flood waters of upper Kuttanad into the Nedumudy lake and the Pallathuruthy lake near Alappuzha because t
he AC road is prone to flooding during monsoon seasons in Kerala. As the road mostly passes through low lying areas of Kuttanad, the road traffic is affected during heavy rains as parts of the road will be submerged in flood waters from Kuttanad. We have traveled through this road many times and all the time we come back from Mumbai, we use this road to reach our house every time and it is very convenient. This is the only road that can weather all weathers. After I returned from Kerala last time, there was heavy flooding during the monsoon and Kuttanad was completly destroyed by the heavy deluge but not this road. i was surprised to see this road without any potholes or cracks, unlike many other roads in Kerala. This is a miracle road. I really enjoy travelling through this road with all the paddy fields and canals, rivers and backwaters. The scenery on either side is exhilarating. With the pristine beauty and plenty of wind and sunshine makes it a very wonderful experience.

By the time I returned the monsoon has already started and there was water in many places but once the rain has stopped, the water will drain of quickly.

During heavy rains the flooding is very severe!
